Get some extra clutch discs since Daytona discontinued that gearbox. Daytona no longer sells the dry clutch discs either. Find 'em while you can. If they are the same as the Takegawa dry clutch discs, let us know. Gotta love a new build..

I know Daytona no langer produces the dry clutch. I bought mine second hand too. BUT, you can use the Takegawa's. No problem I even heard that Takegawa now has a 5disc dry clutch? And that the 5 discs might fit a Daytona clutch. But the person I heard this from wasn't sure, and he suggested I tried it Greets, Niels

Hi guys... I've been having fun again last couple of days.. Crankcases were polished by a friend of mine.. ![]() I built the engine.. Without clutch.. (still in for chroming) The covers of the +R still need to be chromed ![]() Flying wheel weighs 920 grams) Next step: CHROME (it's taking too long, I know.. It was supposed to be done last month but hell.. ) |

Big fan on polished cases here. Ive done it to a few of my projects and its a lot of work but worth it. Ive come to find its actually easier to keep clean then non polished. Dirt and road grime wipes off the polished surface much easier. Keep up the great work. Looks like you will have yourself one hell of a motor. Looking forward to updates. B

Yeah I hope the engine has some HP I'm having doubts about the camshaft (S15). I think I would be happier with the S20 or S25. But the intention is just to cruize around, not have a race-bike.. So I'll just wait and see.. Chromed crankcases are even more easy to keep clean.. A friend of mine did it, getting his cases chromed, but then he hit the bearings (of the gearbox) in the cases, and they cracked... But I'm really happy with the result now... Gives the bike some character... Carburator is now a Yoshimura 24mm flatside btw.. Not getting any parts of that carb chromed.. Would be a shame |

Hey Nealz! Your Dax Orange project looks awesome!! The latest pics you've posted are also great.. CZ100, Z50M... BTW I've a question... Are you planning to put a Takegawa 106 on your Z50m ?? I think it's gonna be pretty funny to ride... Do you buy your parts to Luc DeBondt?? I go there at times and I may go to the new miniSX indoor track in Genk soon... i'm from northern france keep doing your thing! Last edited by #16; 12-31-2008 at 03:27 AM. |

Hi #16.. It's not a Z50M, but a Z50A.. Painted like a Z50M, 6" wheels mounted, and a M-seat welded on to the original Z50A seat-mounts.. It had a 106cc R-stage engine.. It was really fun to ride, but dangerous to.. I guess it was so dangerous because of the 6" wheels.. I go to Luc De Bondt sometimes, it's not too far from my house.. The other times I buy from Corky (in Westende, at the coastline). Are you a member of the Big Valves Team??? Small update on the ST70.. Mounted the cooler and carburator (which is now a Yoshimura TM-MJN24 instead of the PE24) Coolermountings (Falcon), meshguard, dress-up, ... need to go in for chrome-plating. Also the front pipe of the exhaust.. The manifold is now a Takegawa.. I've got a Yoshimura manifold that's in for chroming at the moment.. When I have that one back the carb will be on the clutchside of the bike.. The airfilter could get changed to.. I've got a funnel that's in for chroming to.. ![]() ![]() I called the guy who chromes my stuff.. He said I would have my things back in the month of January.. Beginning or end of the month, no idea... Greets, Niels PS: All the best wishes for the year 2009.. Last edited by Nealz; 12-31-2008 at 02:09 AM. |

Man your build looks awesome and i guess it's gonna be fast though... Sorry for the mistake about the Z50a but you could almost sell it as a z50m since the modification looks OEM z50m lol. Def'ly, my first thought was "damn, it must soo dangerous to ride such a set up..." 106 Take are already tough to control on 10" Zb wheels so i can't imagine what it is on 6" ahahahah Nope I'm not membr of the Big Valves Team, I'm not from Paris but from Rouen, Normandy, not so far from Belgium... BTW i didn't know Corky... Keep us posted about your project |

Rouen isn't that far indeed... A little closer than Paris. I'm from Ghent by the way Corky: Corky's Scooter & Dax Shop - Home (website is in maintenance at the moment).. He's the cheapest for Takegawa parts etc... @ Z: A friend of mine tested the 5 plate Takegawa dry clutch kit in a Daytona dry clutch.. Doesn't fit.. Only 4 plates.. Takegawa plates fit in a Daytona |

Haha yeah I'm sure.. It's been 7 months now.. Problem with the guy is.. He's know as the best in Belgium for chrome plating, so everyone wants to get their parts plated over there. If you would make an appointment, it would be for february 2010. A friend of mine can get his parts in without an appointment, but then it takes a little longer.. Anyway, my friend called last week, and the chrome plater said: "I don't have any parts of you right here". So I was freaking out. The friends went to look today, and all parts are still there, they were just spread out all over the place.... The chrome-guy was gonna try to get it all done by the end of March.. |
