Re: New Validated Speed on YX177V2. 85mph

My motor is a YX 150 with the daytona style clutch and a crf based head so the V2 isn't an option(bummer). I was thinking a TB BVH or wondering if that Taka Type -R head with the roller followers would fit.

Yeah! Page 3 ownage!

A V2 Head, a 184cc bbk, and a 17/29 sprocket combo and you'll have a complemently different machine on your hands.

As for balancing the wheels, I had them use a bubble balancer (or whatever) where they stick the wheel on end and put the bearing in a tapered shaft.

As for going 85mph...it is absolutely crazy at that speed...55mph is my cruising speed and people look at me like I have 5 heads when going that fast on this thing . Then...I take it up to 65 and they don't know what to think . 75mph...I usually lose people. 85....I was only paying attention to not wrecking. I was downhill and tucked for this.

I am going to figure out how to put a stroker crank in it to make it a bit more insane for torque, and then machine the case so I can slap a 18t front sprocket in there. However, it has been very reliable as is and I don't want to dump more money in it. 1600 plus countless hours massaging the motor is a lot of money....don't confuse this motor with a stock 160 or even a bolt together item...lots of work went into this thing.

At 50mph people think I'm nuts, but they always have to show off that they are on a big bike. Funny thing is last time I went riding with big bikes they took off like a bunch of idiots and I was still coming to the stop sign right behind them. Slow and steady might not win the race, but it sure makes for a nice 2nd place. ahah.

Do not forget the cars trying to outdrag you from the traffic lights
Or the looks you get whilst overtaking them on the highway.

Yesterday I hit 81mph on the flat with it. I am going to get my buddy to film me when I go to vintage days and put up some video of this thing.

Everyone says these daytona t-rex motors make 17hp. That should be plenty to break into the 80's.

However, I don't believe they make 17hp. I'd bet that mine only makes about 17 true HP.
