IMHO, a documented NOS with .2 km on it has more value than a 100 point restoration.
The trouble with this bike is that it's worth is greatly decreased if it is ridden.

NOS, points, **** they are all the same to me. I just dont care really.

Value is one thing, worth is all in its owners eyes. Thats why ive never really cared much about the NOS points bikes. If i can ride them hard and fast they arnt worth much to me.

To each his own though. If thats your thing, more power to ya.

Re: Treasure find...

Absolute resto or been freshened up. Tank is the biggest mistake. No "paddle" mark from painting. Note the tip of tank pin is painted white though. Duh. Tell whoever do more research before passing off anymore "nos" bikes.

By the way, the term would not be "nos" for the bike either. NOS means new old stock as in parts not whole bikes. Just "original" would suffice.

Re: Treasure find...

What's this "paddle mark" all about? I'm unfamiliar with the term. I'm not disagreeing or anything--I couldn't tell a original from a resto with both hands and a flashlight--just interested.

Is it the part that shows white underneath, in the tunnel area of the tank?

"Tip of tank pin is painted white though"
Should the pin be painted two coloured?

Re: Treasure find...

They called it a paddle mark because of the fixture that held it during painting. Look under a few unrestored Z50 hardtail tanks. Not all tank color divides were the same either. You will notice the "pin" on some are painted all the way and some half way etc. Depend on the day or amount of saki at lunch at the planet. People get crazy over measuring the the dividing line placement on tanks. Not necessary. They varied by tank. People can get nuts on resto's. REMEMBER: They were production line dirt bikes. NOT concours builds. Crooked decals, paint blemishs etc were common. People constantly over restore these bikes. Show chrome etc.

I own a red 1970 CT70 KO, original bike, with crooked Honda stripe on the left side. Dealer couldn't sell it because nobody wanted it! It sat for years in the shop. He said it wasn't the first one he received with mistakes. It happens.

Re: Treasure find...

So were the tanks dipped in the paint, or at least in one of the two colors? Or was the underside second color an artifact of the spraying/masking process?
