| Re: Tire Size choices in 12" (available stateside) The rear seems to be wearing really well and is pealing at the edges, I will see if I can get some pics, but it won't be tonight as I’m stuck in Manchester!!! From the research I did to get the correct profile on a 120 the rim should be between 2.5" and 3"and from my thinking the wider the profile the bigger the contact patch. That’s why I went for the 3”. A 100 should be between 2" and 2.5". I take what you are saying about the front being to wide on a 2.5” rim, the tip in is going to be rubbish!! I have a 1.85" on a 100 on the front at the mo and the profile looks wrong, the tyre tucks in at the edges and there’s about a 2-3mm chicken strip each side and I no I can’t get it to lean any further because I’ve tried and ended up supermaning down the track!!! I think I will go down the 2.15" route and put some wets on my old rims. OOracing are now doing a 3.5” rear but I think that’s too big for a 120, but maybe good for a 130!!! |

You rate the TT92's the Mic. That's what I thinking of trying next, the Sava mc31 are good but to seem to let go when you least expect them to. I have been told that the TT92 great but rubbish if you let them get cold i.e. if there's a race stoppage and your sitting there for a while. But if you use tyre warmers they are great from the start. I am also thinking of running slicks now we are aloud to, but the only ones we can get over here are Taiwanes and I’m abit reluctant to get a set encase there rubbish.

well from what ive been told they are supposed to be rubbish in the cold but after seeing callum who rides for stomp raceing put some very fast times down at the last endurance at lydd while it was pissing dwn i cant say for sure his bike seemed planted didnt see any slides and he was pushing very hard, could be rider skill over tyres but untill i take a set to kinsham with out my tire warmers cant say for sure.im putting a set on my wheels the weekend and hopefully going kinsahm next sun or maybe wilton next tuesday for a test sesion. as for the 3.5 with a 130 tire i think it would be over kill and if you did run one you would probly have problems with it fitting in your swingarm or chain rub unless u adjusted the dish to acommadate the chain line. |

the front 2.5 tip in does seem to feel a little slow but the grip is good. i need to test it out more in race conditions to really make a decision as to wether or not to swap it for a 2.15 front. now a 3-3.5 rear would probably be overkill for these bikes. it would look awesome though, but not practical unless you had at least 22~25 hp

I ran the IRC MBR750 tire on my 110 2.15 rims with 100/90-12 front and rear and they felt really good. If I pushed real hard out of the trns I would get a little slide from the rear but it was controllable and predictable. I think the slide also had to do with the power of my 180cc motor though. The tires seem to be holding up really good too.

Yeah the grip seems very preditable you have more of a warning before it really lets go.but then again rideing style comes into play aswell with the front wheel,if u sit by the tank u wouldnt really notice much difference with turn in rate and if it did slow u could compensate with dropping the forks thru the yokes. but if you sit right back u notice the littlest adjustments at the front. And what works for 1 doesnt always work for everyone else. A 130 tire would be worth it if you was pushing over 22+bhp but ur talking a higly tuned yx160/ with 184 head or daytona dohc 150/160 tuned. but again its only gonna be worth it if you can get a 130 tyre on.

Friends, This is a MINIMOTARD Backfire, is the only brand leader in Pitbikes Argentina. I've put the aluminum rims with cnc hub. I inserted a complete kit brembo brake. Look how it turned out, I hope you like it. From now I send greetings to all. From Buenos Aires Argentina a greeting. later I will upload more photos. I want someone to tell me where I upload photos to show but more of MMX. Thanks... leo. |

Hello All, Just wanted to let everyone know that a 3.5 back rim fits on a stock KLX 110 swing arm. I put a 140/60-12 tire on it and it fits really nice, about 1/8 of an inch from the chain. Also I put a 2.5 front rim with a 110/60-12 tire and that also just fits the stock forks. I really like the look of my tires now, I have been researching all different size tires and rims for a year and this is pretty much the biggest that I can go without them looking dumb or functioning well. Here are a few photos tell me know what you think! The rims I got from Ooracing, the front tire is a Maxxis I got from Japan, and the rear tire is a Heidenau. I used a Storm disc brake adapter and I made a bracket for the caliper. Here are a few photos.

I've just seen the photos of your motorcycle. It really is cornered in behind the big tires. And the Brembo brake caliper adapter is also good. But I could really see how to round off the adapter and give a round shape as the hub of the wheel. Anyway good job. greetings Leo of ARGENTINA BACKFIRE RACING PITBIKE.-
