Its not perfect, the outside of the pad is at the edge of the rotor. I did make sure it wasn't off of the edge of the rotor, its a tight fit but I don't see it causing a problem.

See if you can track down a SDG Pro Mini rotor, they are a little bit larger diameter, might be a better fit for the caliper/pad setup. And if you do find a source of rotors, let me know, I need spares. : ) |

Keep in mind that 70% of your stopping power is the front brake. I fabbed a bracket so you can run big bike front brakes on the x2 (I believe), X4 and X4R's. If there is interest I will have more brackets made and sell complete bolt on front brake systems including master cyclinder and brake line. My Front brakes are easy to pull back on and will actually lock up hard enough to dig your face into the dirt. Last edited by slater; 02-02-2008 at 09:08 PM. |

i did the same thing to mine but used a yz85 twin piston brake caliper. it ads more stopping power put it makes the brake have better feel and its easier to feather unlike most cheap brakes which are on or off. |

We tried this set up too but the caliper was way too bulky so we opted to go with the KX65 front brake! | |

My Mood: | Re: New X4 mod, cost $2.50 I finally go to try it out last week at mototown. It was definately a worthwhile upgrade. 1 finger was enough to lift the rear tire, and the modulation is amazing.

well i just got done hooking up my front brakes. It didnt take to long. I have to still have my dad make up a actual spacer cause i just used one washer on each bolt and it works mint. I havnt ridden it yet cause in ordering the new 150 motor but i will let everyone no how well it works. To everyone with the kx85 brakes, did u use the stock brake line cause the way my brake line points is to the front and the line rubs into the rotor. I want to spin it around so the line is facing the back of the wheel but my line is so tough to get it on there facing backwards? |

P.s Lets take note that the picture of the YX85 calipers are on a traditional fork set up, not the inverted forks most bikes run nowaday and this would cause fitting issues.

| Re: New X4 mod, cost $2.50 I run a Thumpstar with the same conventional forks pretty much so this will not be hard for me to do.

I did the same mod with an 05 RM85 tokico 2pot caliper. had to drill & tap a new hole for the upper mount and enlarge the holes on the forks to fit the bigger bolts. added washers as spacers between caliper bracket and fork bracket for the time being. worthwhile upgrade.

My Mood: | Re: New X4 mod, cost $2.50 ![]() ![]() ![]() Motovert's come standard with duel front and duel back breaks, maybe anyone who wants to mod their x4's or x4r's could pick up a set from a motovert dealer? No scarcasm intended, the duel caliper breaks are a must IMO. |
