Re: YX 150 or New lifan 150?

being it's in a custom frame set up, I'd recommend using a KLX engine. 194 it with a TM32 carb, S35, blah blah blah, you know... the Usual stuff and some little magic dust. Real race gas and some tweaking and POWWW 25+ hp.

From a company who specializes in high horsepower gear boxes. That would be an extreme measure though. It would take about 5gs up front to get it done and id have to pay for more then one.

Re: YX 150 or New lifan 150?

If you know a shop, get the setup cost, as well as cost per unit afterwords for say, a 25 unit run. For bonus points, see if they'd be game to squeeze a 5 speed into that space.

If and when someone comes up with a strong close ratio gear setup for the GPX/YX engine family there going to make some $$$.

Re: YX 150 or New lifan 150?

What's a better upgrade for the yx150.
A takegawa superhead + R and a s35 cam
or a TB v2 roller rocker head (bigger intake and exhaust valves compared to a takegawa superhead + R) with a high comression pitston?

V2 valves are the same size. If it's for dirt, and only 150cc, I'd bet the 20 or 25 cam has more "area under the curve" and would be faster. A road racer might want the extra fraction of a horsepower the 35 has on the top and be ok with the softer midrange.

On the AHP site, the valve sizes are different.
But it is for road racing, and it it must be 150cc.
But which head shall I buy?
And wich carb is better:

The 28mm D-Slide Carb Kit KLX110 Style 225 dollars

or the TB 28mm Carb Kit KLX / YX / GPX 159 dollars??

I'm putting a ported BVH onto a Lifan 150 today to see how it wakes up the motor.

If you are going to invest in a custom tranny, spend wisely and get a close ratio!!! Basically make 1st a hair smaller than the current second, 2nd a hair larger than current second, 3rd is good, and 4th a bit smaller. This would give you 4 USEABLE gears, and close that gap from 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th.

OH YEAH, and put me down for 2 of them!!!

Re: YX 150 or New lifan 150?

I disagree. Given the HP output on these big builds, improve the spacing between the ratios, but keep it wide, if not wider than stock. I'd rather see a closer ratio 5 speed with a touch wider spread overall myself, that'll really let us use the full power we're capable of building up now.

You would think with all this developement going on that we'd see more close ratio poping up.
