My Mood: | Re: TB117 vs YX150 you can make either of them rev like hell just depends on the rotor. you can get an inner rotor for each which make em scream on teh rev limiter alot or you can get a lightened fly wheel which isnt as bad. both are good choices though. i personally run the irk

I have both TB117 and YX150. I have the 25/23 head from Dratv on the 117 tho, ported by AHP. Motor rips for sure but It's not near as quick as the YX150 in my SSR. I have flywheels on both motors and the YX revs a lot quicker and pulls for a lot longer. TB stuff isn't the greatest quality but neither is the YX....

just ride and have fun....most of the speed comes from how long you keep it pinned anyways...in MX that is.....but I say the bigger the better when comparing to TB engines....now +R engines theres no question...just alot of money involved.....

i had a 117 for vegas two years ago. It was a much more mild set up than what you can buy, really fun motor and still could sing it out. What im getting at is the one you could get is gonna be a impressive motor and to boot honda so to speak. Ive ridden the 150 in a 10 inch set up and personally i found it was much harder to ride. Might of been the chassie it was that didnt help. But in short, when my twin bro was on that at moto town and i was on my 88 i could keep up with him. Keep in mind both of us for the past two years have been keeping the 1 and two spots in all of the 88 classes and took the championship in the the 10 inch rock star class so you do not get much closer for evenly matched riders. In short that yx had 4 total rides on it (no racing) and the cam blew to pices causing two brake both rocker arms and send the ball bearings through the head. Now that motor is sitting on a bench in my basment collecting dust. Keep in mind the yx does have a 4th gear so that is where your buddys will get you is on the straights. If id had to pick id still go with the 117. |

I have ridden both and i have a yx150 motor in an ogm i have. I personally dont lik ethe yx150, its not smooth power at all. Feels like all grunt. The tb117 to me was a absolute blast, If you are riding for fun i would go with the 117, if you are riding to race i would go with the yx150.
