Re: 2003 xr50 rescue mission

Ok cool.
So, pull the head, if it looks good replace gaskets, seals, new plug, put it back in and see if she fires up?

I am gonna give my buddy a call in a bit and see if there was anything wrong with it when he stopped riding it.

Mod I believe.
I want to start by getting the thing running strong, then sandblasting that frame to get that red powder coat off of it. Then I am going to go for suspension front and rear, then cosmetic.
I am looking to get it all done by December some time.

I am trying to find people parting out there bikes so hopefully I can pick up some front forks for a reasonable price, it seems like they run a pretty penny.

Thanks for the help, let me know if you have any old parts I can take off your hands.

Ok I will.
Any brands to stay away from?

I just got off the phone with the kid that I got it from, and he said that the whole reason he stopped riding it was because the coil went bad and he just never replaced it. So that should be a cheap fix.

Thanks for all the help.
I will post up more pics as I progress.

Re: 2003 xr50 rescue mission

Ok, so I took apart the engine, and everything looks in tact, so I put it back together and put some fresh oil in it.

I sent the frame, swingarm, and fork tubes in for powdercoating.
I am getting them done gold. And I am going to put on some white plastics, and hopefully going to get some custom graphics done. Does anybody know someone who will gimme some custom graphics for a reasonable price?

Once I get it back I am going to put it all together and fire it up.

Also, when I got the bike it had a baja kit on it, I no longer need that. But here is where the problem comes in, I don't need the wires either, but with so many wires that go with the dang kit I don't know which ones I need and which ones go to the kit. All I want on there is the ones that I need. So if anyone has some pictures of only the wires I need that would be very very helpful.

Before I can get the beast up and mobbin' I am going to need a few parts. Below is a list of parts I need.

Throttle cable
Brake cable (drum)
Plastics (white)
Tall seat
Exhaust
+1 fork legs
stiffer fork springs
Rear shock
10" tire tubes
Skid Plate
Gold Chain
Sprockets 14/38

And I think that is it.
Let me know if you guys have any of those parts.
I will be sure to post up some pics when I get the frame back from powdercoating!
Woot I am so stoked!

Braaaaap
-Matt

Wow, it was out so long you needed to spray some Weed Stop on the seat? LOL. This will be an interesting re-build.

You should be able to find any of those parts though Ebay on the cheap dude. I just saw a white plastic kit for a crf50 for like 20 bux on there the other day.
