Well guys after a ton of research im realizing it will cost more then I paid for the bike to make it the way i want it. I fulfilled my childhood dream of having a Honda 50 but it just isnt practical in the $$$ department. Im going to put the Honda motor back in tonight and just sell the crf50 stock complete. I will also be selling the Piranha 140 I put in it. Any ideas on what I should ask for the bike and the motor? The bike is only a week old 2008 and I still havent even got the title yet (waiting on it in the mail). The motor is a Piranha 140 with carb: http://stores.wholesale-cycle.com/-s...%2C/Detail.bok You guys have been great with the advice, I just dont have the extra money to play... You don't have to sell it. You can find cheap used stuff right here on Planet Minis in the classifieds section. I have some stuff I'd sell for cheap like a BMX triple clamp and an HD shock spring. Don't sell it man all you need is a bar kit.

I do agree with the big bar kit it is a must and it will be so much more stable ( you will be able to control it , as far as the pegs Yes the do help , but I had a full mod 50 and I never broke the stock mount I had ( Im 5'9 165) And the rear brake lever do you have a friend with a welder? I just cut my stock one and extended it and plated it . Dont worry about shock and springs right now ( a nice tall seat will help raise the seat height witch will make it more comfortable and a small tank spacer), just get the bare kit and pegs so you can ride it and then you will know what kind of riding your going to do with it , and you can go from there .

take your time, when you get a couple bucks, buy a part and check it off the list. You dont have to drop $3k on it right away, you can spread it over a year or two like me, one part at a time

Just sell one of your kidney's! you'll be able to buy lots of parts after that! No really look in the classifieds you can find great deals on there! Sell the stock motor and just start piecing your bike together. Stay away from that ebay crap! Buy name brand stuff on there. You can find triple clamps for 30 bucks on Ebay, but do you trust your neck to those? Ebay item 250524319639 SP5 forks and bar kit, watch it it's going for 91 bucks now. |

![]() You should know that toys of any kind are NOT cheap. Of course it's going to take a lot of money to turn a kids play bike into something fit for an adult if you expect high performance! This is pretty much common sense and you should have realized it before you bought the bike. Keep the stock Honda and ride it. It will be fun. But you're not going to get what you paid for it so don't expect to get your money back either!

![]() And it is far from fun while stock, its uncontrolable. If I could just ride it stock I would keep it, but that isnt happening. So by my calculations even going cheap I would have to pump in another $500-$800 putting this build at well over $2000.00.... And then you figure if I sell it then i would lose even more as mods dont get back what you paid for them. I see this as a big hole in my wallet. I am going to take the money and buy an ATV with a plow which is actually something I can use daily here in Ohio...

You could have purchased a pitster pro and not had any hassle. And before people go on the HOnda rant, just remember, that when you buy your crf50 and replace the forks, swingarm, bars and tree, add a tall seat, upgrade the motor, exhaust, and carb...you don't have a honda anymore anyway except the frame and plastics. I love the honda vintage stuff like z50 and ct70 for what they are...but for a pitbike, my pitster is the cat's ass. |

Youve already taken the hit on the bike. As SOON as a bike comes off the showroom floor, its not worth near what you paid for it. Youve already taken the hit, so enjoy it a little. You know youre going to lose some money on it, at least enjoy the thing and lose a little money...

You should have gotten a used pitster or built a 50 from classified parts. Tossing a 140 chinker in a stock 50 right off the bat, what did you expect? Did you even sit on it in the showroom? You story is sad, funny and confusing. It's a passion, even a lifestyle...you don't get it. hopefully you won't lose too much on it, but you probably will. The fact that you brought up an atv w/ a plow says everything we need to know. Don't let the door hit you on the way out lol |

If you would take the time and read my original post I bought this to satisfy a childhood dream. I can now say I had one and it was just too small. Yes i sat on it in the dealership, but I figured since so many other adults ride these it wouldnt be an issue. I didnt realize I would have to spend so much after the sale... So my option would be dump a ton more money into this thing and get it where I wanted it. However I dont keep toys long term, im constantly buying new ones to tinker with. I find it humorous you are passing judgement on me. Do you really think dumping more money into it only to lose even more in the end is wise? I sure dont. Im being practical and moving on to something that not only provides fun but serves a purpose (snow plow). I dont get passion? LMFAO, you are a troll, move along....

No need to give dude a hard time, he tried it and saw the price to mod it was more than he thought. maybe he didnt search before he bought it to find any used ones for less. I'm looking to get into it also and have been searching on here and reading to get an idea of what i need. I have been looking for a used stock Honda or maybe one slightly modded to keep me under a certain price range but in this area they are rare except for China bikes. He probably can buy used items and save alot of money but deciding which item to buy can be a headache as everyone often gives mutiple suggestions on which route to go and are telling what works best for them. to someone with no idea about these bikes of the mods, it can be alot to take in and understand. i think i originally asked for suggestions on building a stock one along with pics of the bikes in order to see the parts you use and the difference it makes. Overall give the guy a break and if he takes a loss, then thats expected on buying anything, he tried it and he may take the advice and come back later and buy a used one and build from there if he feels he can get some helpful info without being ridiculed over his decision. We live and learn and we all started out not knowing anything and had to gain knowledge. |
