build up the floor and take more out of the ceiling. The point or goal of porting is to enlarge the port by straightening out the airflow path.

twitchy, thanks for the input like i said i am not done yet just started on it. i don't know if you seen an old stock xr 80 port but that ports are really small. i already raised it 5mm

Thanks Dr. Dom I am going to cut the guides on the next head but what I am wondering is guiding the mixture around the valve stem instead of it hitting and being forced to change direction might be an advantage after we get some stuff done it will be nice to do some dyno testing and see

i agree John, like i was telling you on the phone, i think jialing has changed the heads on these new engines and it is for the worse believe me lol.

What kind of sanding bit do you use to get the final finish? I can shape with a fine carbide cutter but am having trouble finding a sanding bit small enough to get in the small confines of the stock GPX ports. Thanks

I use a slotted mandrel for finish work hope this helps check out CC Specialty tools

I used a mandrel bit with sanding rolls....coarse.
