Re: gas?

very true.
Most people idea of race gas is 110 octane stuff they buy down at the local gas station that sells the stuff out of their in ground containers.
You don't see any of the factory guys buying fuel that way.
True race fuels have additives and excellerants to make more power, like Propylene Oxide and other oxygen bearing chemicals.
Also the properties of race fuels can be different like specific gravity.
All this stuff will make a difference in the way your engine runs and or carburates.
Most race gases are lightly oxygenated or their fuels have a lighter gravity in which case you will need to richin up your mixture to compensate for this.
If your bike runs better on the "race fuel", it's probrobly jetted to rich in the first place.
I always tell people if that you run pump fuel. Make sure it's fresh stuff from a frequently visited gas station ( like one next to a freeway on ramp) vs out in the middle of podunk trying to save some $$.
Real race fuels that actually make power are going to be expensive and are high maintinence. The stuff I run is $32. a gal but it's worth every bit of that if you are building championship winning engines.
