New on this site and I'm from Quebec, Canada near Montreal. I'm in my 40's now and use to ride alot of mini bikes 20 years ago and loved them. Been looking at the bigger pit bikes and can't beleive how much they have changed in 20-25 years. I have 3 kids (twin girls 13 & Son 18) that would be interested to go ride pit bikes.

I'm looking at either a 125cc or 140cc Pit Bike for just having fun. By the way, I ride Down Hill mountain bikes and taking jumps of 20 plus feet is a regular thing for me.

Any other guy's in the Montreal, Quebec region just getting started?

Just picked up a 2008 OGM 150sx Pro with a new 160 top end. Has some other upgrades, but I'm told for a pit bike this thing is nuts for power.

First time getting into pit bikes... don't know a ton about them. (just what I know from riding reg. dirt bikes - 2 stroke) The night I picked the pit bike up I took it up and down my street and couple times - realized the exhaust pipe was glowing orange right at the base. Not sure if thats normal???
Also, there is a ticking type noise coming from engine. The guy I bought it from mentioned something about having an aftermarket cam? After the engine is turned off I can still hear something spinning inside - is that okay?

Any help would be appreciated!

I originally was looking at Chinese pit bikes until the XR/CRF50 caught my eye. I have owned 2 dirt bikes before(74 Honda XL125 and 89 YZ125) so ridding isn't foreign to me. I am having trouble finding any used xr50s, it seems they are either already modified or somewhat expensive. I am looking to just mess around in the backyard and around town, not going to go crazy jumping/stunting. I just want something to play around on. That being said, I convinced myself to get a CRF50, but I don't know where to start price wise. I am most likely going to buy early next spring, and I would like to know what you guys paid for yours(if you bought new). A buddy of mine has an 07 XR(or CRF, I don't know what year they switched) 50 and all he has is stronger springs and high bars on it, and that's basically all I'd wanna do for now with it. If you guys could give me your OTD price, or point me in the direction of some good classifieds(already using craigslist), I'd appreciate. I think they MSRP at my local dealer for $1395?
