This past weekend Amber Hughes, the #17 rider from Team McBride Sports Accessories, sustained a severe break in her lower right leg due a qualifier crash. Amber was in second place against some of the fastest men riders around, including Clark, Stella, N. Reitz, to name a few. She was flying on her brand new bone stock Pitster LXR when the crash happened.

The crash was due to another rider clipping her front wheel and when she went down she was run over by another rider. She is in stable condition, but in a lot of pain. Amber is awaiting surgery on her leg this morning. She is in Johns Hopkins in Baltimore Maryland. The break is very severe. She will not be able to walk on it for at least two months if everything goes good with the surgery. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

Amber is a heck of a rider, it sucks that something like this had to happen to her. Best of luck hopfully she makes a full recovery and is back on the bike soon.

that stinks. the crash looked pretty bad too, but she was flying! I think she was in 2nd for a whole lap or so before she wrecked. Hope the recovery goes well.

yeah that is bad that this happened. prayers sent to her, and everyone that knows her personally you know she will be back in no time on her bike with avengience. we all better watch out.

Best wishes for a fast, full recovery.....was anyone else seriously annoyed with "porkchop", i found it a bit disrespectful to be makin' jokes while she was in pain and being attended to by the medics.

Sorry to hear this. I pray that she heals up 110%. Nothing is worse than having a life long injury. keep us updated on her condition... It always stressed me out to watch my wife ride and push the limits... I can't imagine what I'd do if something this happened to her.

she will be out of the hospital to morrow morning. i was right there and didn't hear it. I wish i did i probably would have knocked him out a lot of people were pissed.
