2009 Ct70?, new bike inside.............

I know, I know............. Chinese bikes are horrible and only useful as boat anchors / I should be banned for posting a Chinese bike / its Chinese so it will only run for 30 minutes before it explodes etc..etc....etc....etc......

Well, for $499 (on sale half price) I couldn't justify NOT getting one.

Overall I'm pretty impressed with it. It came with documentation:
-certificate of origin (like a registration)
-owners manual
-maintenance / use instructions
-brochure
-warning booklet
-two keys

its a 86cc semi-auto 4 speed, with all 4 gears down (the first bike I've had like that)

Quality doesn't seem too bad, welds aren't any worse than my actual Ct70.

Headlight and taillight come on as soon as it kicks over.

I also took a picture of it with my other Chinese bike, an RCM 125sx. I bought the RCM brand new last year from a retailer on Ebay for $525 (best $525 I ever spent)

So far I've had pretty good experience with my $500 Chinese bikes

here are the pics

Cool. Have fun with it. There's always aftermarket to improve the bike and or replace what ever might break.

I agree, I'm planning on some improvements with both Honda parts and some aftermarket. I figured that for the money if something broke or wore out too quickly I could just replace it.

I also bought one of the exact same bikes for my GF, which she crashed on her maiden voyage. The stuff that broke on hers (handle bar mount - relector - footpegs) will probably get replaced with Honda parts

Thanks

the left side has the seat lock, the right side has just a pin that is very poorly aligned with a rubber receptacle, I'll eventually try to re-engineer it - and some other little things.

In the meantime, it seemed logical to me - even the motor/throttle/carb setup on Ebay is in the low $200 range.

Can you get that licensed up there? If it can, I think you got a pretty good deal. I paid $899 US for My American Lifan when I got it new but it also came with all the lights and a 110cc engine with estart.

If it cannot be made street legal I might be inclined to say it wasnt such a good deal.

I'm not really sure about licensing, but all the documentation looked like it was there to support eventual licensing.

From my experience in the past (with something alot sketchier) I think I'll be able to license it.

It looks like an off-road model...no speedo or turn signals...You could most likely add those things to get a street plate...

you hit the nail on the head, I'm working with one of my buddies that is going to register his 74 Z50 and right now he's figuring out the lights / turn switch / speedo as well.

Like some other Chinese bikes (my RCM included) there are alot of wires in the harness that aren't used so I presume they sell it in different configurations?

Its not too hard to add the street stuff. Last year I got a 74 z50 plated here in CA.

Honda makes brackets, blinkers and switches for the k3-78 z50s in foreign markets. Heres my 74 z50:

also DRATV has a cheap universal blinker switch that I have used with success. THey also have blinkers pretty cheap too.

And of course Hooper Imports has everything for the blinker setup as well. Looks like you will need both a right and left control set to make it plug and play.

Let me know how it goes with registering and licenseing it for the street. I am thinking of getting the same bike here in BC.
