My Mood: | 6volt to 12volt CDI
So I got my hands on a cb125 motor from my father-in-law. Not exactly sure what year but i know its a single. He didnt have the electronics or wiring for it anymore though. I wanted to convert the 6v points motor to a 12v CDI unit so i can put this into a street legal mini. I know theres a way to lock the timing in full advance and get rid of the battery , etc etc. But I wanted to get rid of the whole ign advance points thingy and run a complete CDI setup. I had a couple theories after doing some intense Googling and not finding all the answers. Can I just forego the points wire and wire up a CDI box from the existing stator and use a 12v ign coil? I read that the existing stator provides enough voltage and cannot be rewound anyway. in essence the wiring diagram would look something like this: - stator wires output to CDI box - CDI to 12v ign coil - stator power to regulator box for lighting - leave stock points wire at cam unplugged Am i getting this right? Thanks for any input/suggestions. |
