| 79 Z50 Suspension
Hi All, New here, great site, I have a 79 Z50R, are there any good suspension mods for this bike?New longer oil filled front and rear shocks? ect. I am not sure what would be best, I would like to give it a bit of a lift. Thanks, Waltert |

Can't help you out with the oil-filled stuff, but can tell you that the XR/CRF50 +1 chromoly front fork kits and heavy-duty springs are a direct bolt-in for the front suspension, and you can get longer rear shocks from DRATV, among other places. Common length shocks to use are 280mm (11"), or the 305mm (12"). I don't believe you can use the 330mm (13") ones unless you extend the rear swingarm.

If you plan on extending the swingarm 4", you might want to consider using the aftermarket chrome shocks for a CT70 that are available on eBay. Click on the auction number here 110070841974. They are 330mm (13") in length. You can get the +1 forks kit with HD springs from Five0 Racing, and there are a few other manufacturers, as well. |

I see FiveO has fork extender kits, I am not sure exactly what I need , can these legs replace the lower part / legs of the front shocks, of a z50, being a swap of parts? I see on e-bay there is a place "mini trail parts unlimited" selling front forks for $79. to fit the z50, ct70 ect, these must be some of the chinese parts, any good? and will they work as well? They are showing a set of front forks for $79.99, but not showing what triple clamp setup you need to go with those forks. If you take a close look at your stock fork setup, the uppers are welded to the lower triple clamp, with the top triple bolting down on the top. The 79 dollar forks need the type of triples that you can insert the fork upper into place, and then tighten the bolt, to pinch the upper securely in place.
