81 ct70 project

What up sucka's. Ldog from Tucson AZ.

So I picked up my lil 1981 ct70 for $290. After some acid baths for the carb and gas tank she fired up. Change the spark plug new gas, oil and some lube here and there and she was on the road. Well she was on the parking lot. No plates yet. Next I got a 90 day permit as I start the bond prosess for the MSO I have. Needed a rear view and a horn. Today I pick up a battery so I can work on the lights.

Help: I need some parts where is the best place to look?

speed'o cable
wire diagram
smokes a bit should I do the 88 kit if I tear the topend down?

Here are some before photos.

i would go for the 88 kit! a little extra power never hurt. looks like the bike is in good condition!

Re: 81 ct70 project

yea the 88 kit would be nice.

it smokes a lil bit . valve guide seals. or past the valve seats.

would the 88 kit solve that?

what 88 kit should I order?

i installed a TB 88 kit w/ the race head on my CRF and it was a great kit! it smoked a little bit before the rebuild, but was golden after i rebuilt her.

Re: 81 ct70 project

I also have an '81, and I installed the TB 88CC kit and a new repro carb. The bore kit didn't help the light smoke that the bike had with the old piston/cylinder.

It did make a hell of a difference in power, though.
