Is the 86 SE z50 tranny 3 up or 3 down? Just wondering b/c I had a friend give me the engine out of one yesterday and I am going to build something out of the bottom end. But, if it is a 3 down I will probably change out the tranny.

All Z50 transmissions are 3 down up to 1988. 1988 was the first year of 3 up.

Thank you. I was thinking they stopped in the early 80s. Guess I was wrong. I normally mess w/ stuff 2000 and newer.
