Question any good ct70 front disc brake upgrades??????

I've seen that chinese front fork disc brake kit on ebay for about $130 but it looks kind of crappy. I've also read about it on another forum and it had mixed reviews.
So, are there any good jap. front disc brake kits???
I want a good setup, and i dont mind spending some $$$.
I've seen a few for the z50 monkey but none for the ct70.
Any info would be great.
Thanks.

How do you feel about spending over $2000?

http://monkeybike.co.uk/acatalog/NSR...70___DX90.html

Brake kits aren't cheap. You'll need the hub, calipers, proper caliper mounting on the leg, etc.

im running the fork leg and disc setup thats on ebay and actually like it. the forks are soft, so different oil might do the trick for you and the brakes are actually pretty strong. the rotor is the same bolt pattern as the nsr's, im not posistive about the spacing -im in the process of trying to figure that out. if they are the same, i will be adding a larger rotor and a relocation bracket.

I have the cheap e=bay version also. Really, for the price it is not bad. The forks are not really an upgrade, but do add the caliper mount. The Caliper and master cylinder are really worth the price of the setup, and you get a proper hub and disk also. You will need to also order a triple, as the tubes are a bit larger than the early bikes, or you can ream out the triple to fit (a lot of work).

The only real problem is that it does not ship with a speedo cable, and the stocker does not work. I ended up with a cable off of I believe an RD250 Yamaha (!) which is a bit long, but has the proper fittings.

If you don't want to spend much it is great. If you want Brembo Quality, look elsewhere. It is perfect for my CT build.

do you feel safe ridding the china forks over 35mph???
i just might buy them....they are a good price.

I could fabricate a caliper mount onto the extra '91 ct70 forks that i have and just buy the components and make a kit that way....but i dont think i could make a hub.
Does anyone sell just the hub setup??
Or do i have to buy the whole kit???
Or does anyone know how to make a hub setup?? Maybe use an old hub and modify it?

Dilligaf.... what do you mean by "put pre-loaded spacer in the forks"???

Thanks. This is all a great help!!!!

I'm pretty sure G-Craft and maybe a couple of others make just the hub, but once again, your looking at over $100.

Who's idea was it to mount the axle behind the fork tubes?

just buy the ebay set up, bore out the lower clamp. i did it to mine, just use a drill with the small grinder bit. if you just take it easy and keep checking the fit youll be fine, that way you wont take off to much material. remember, the clamp should slide verryyy snug down the legs so that when its tightened itll bite the tubes. i looked on monkeybike.uk and can almost guarantee that the ebay fork setup is the jincheng dx90 fork kit thats on monkeybike.uk i think that you should be able to track a jincheng cable down, if not just use that yamaha one or find another one that will fit. this will be the best set up for the least amount of cash.

Wouldn't that cause the forks to bind more than they normally would?

Oh, wait. I got it all wrong. In the picture I posted above, I thought was looking at the left fork leg with the rotor on the left side. I guess that that's just what I'm used to. It's weird to see a caliper mounted up in front of the fork leg. But after seeing the picture with it on the bike, I see how it really is. Yeah. If it was the OTHER way than in the last picture you posted, then it would bind. So how it is in your newest picture would cause less bind. I get it now. I just wasn't thinking the same way you were.

Even if you decided not to use the front forks in the E-bay kit, the caliper, hose, mastercylinder, lever combo, plus the hub and disk are worth the price. If you wanted to use the Cheap hub (with the disk mount) on the stock fork, you will need to either change the bearing in the hubs to use the oem axle, or put a sleeve on the cheap axle to fit the oem fork leg. The Kit's axle is a bit smaller diameter.

The forks are not great, but not any worse then early stockers. They can be adjusted a bit with fork oil and possible the spring preload spacer.

I think i might just buy the china kit.
But I'd still like to know where to buy just the hub, i may still make my own setup. I havn't had much time to search the web for a hub.
So....any other sites that sell just the hub???

Thanks again!!!

I agree with my brother Makotosun....
The brakes work very well... I really can't imagine wanting more stopping power. I can do stoppies with these brakes, no problems.. The only downside to the kit is the suspension.. It's decent but nothing to write home about... The forks put the bike a tad tall in the front end, I've cut down the springs to bring down the front and replaced the fluid and seals after powder coating them.. The forks still feel a little "busy" compaired to the KO stockers (which I actually like)... Since I only ride street with my bike I like more of a "dead" feel in the front end. These kits make for a real nice cushy ride...

I have one of these setups but have not yet mounted it. You will need to enlarge your triple tree to make it fit in there. Quality wise? About what you'd expect for $140, but certainly an upgrade over the stock fork and stock brakes.
