| Anybody know where to get a high compression piston for a CRF50 with stock head?
Just what the title says. I'd like a link.

Would it work with my TBQ race cam?

The Powroll one looks good but way expensive. I can't understand the Wiseco website and can't find the piston.

I managed to make my own high compression piston. I took a 1984 Z50R piston and ground down enough with a dremel to make it fit with a CRF50 head and TBQ cam. I know it will not bash inot the valves because I checked it without the base gasket and a used head gasket. If I had used a new head gasket, there would be more room than a torqued down one because it wasn't compressed. So when I put in a base gasket, then there will be even more piston to valve clearance. So I will test it with an old head before I put on a good one. (just in case I'm wrong about it fitting) |

If it doesn't work out go to dr.atv.com and they have what you're looking for.

DrATV doesn't sell high compression pistons for the stock bore. I am sure because I even e-mailed him and asked.

Yeah ,I thought you were runnig a 88 cc for some reason.I ran the wiseco high comp. in my stocker with a web cam ,bored carb, and mod. stock pipe and that thing ripped ,it would keep up to some of the slower big bores out there which was fun when they would ask what I was running and told them a stock 50.

I'd like an 88 but then I can't legally ride on the streets. In Loudoun County, I can ride on streets up to 45mph speed limit without lights, horn, insurance, title, licence, plates as long as I'm running 49cc or less and I have three or less wheels. No age limit so my three year old cousin could ride it. And I know I could get a cylinder marked 49 yada yada yada but my dad won't let me buy it. He says "Sure you can buy it and install it but you can't ride it."

![]() Here is the URL for the Wiseco page, the XR/CRF50 pistons are listed on page 5 of the 7 page Honda catalogue. There is a listing for 3 pistons, but only one you can use, as shown above, to stay within the 49cc parameter you have set for yourself. http://www.wiseco.com/PDFs/Catalogs/...aCycleDirt.pdf

So what's the price? And what does it mean by "Cylinder boring required for oversizes?" If it fits the 39mm bore then why does it mention boring? If my piston doesn't work, I'll consider that.

2. If you have a cylinder that is worn out, and measures to be 39.38mm, you need to have the cylinder bored out to the next piston size, which would be 39.50. You would need to have a shop measure your cylinder bore size before ordering the correct size piston kit to fit your cylinder. Once you have the correct sized piston, the cylinder is then bored out to match that specific piston size.

I don't know whats available for you guys over there, but would't you have been better off getting a high comp piston to suit your original head with bigger valves and ports?

I couldn't find any aftermarket engine parts for my 1984 engine. It's all for pre-1982 and 1988 to present. And yes I did suggest not to grind your piston. I've learned a bit since. dirtbkr188, if I have a cylinder from 2003, and it's been ball honed twice, and I've gone about 500 miles, do you think it's worn too much to use stock piston and rings?
