Anyone adapt a front disc brake for a hardtail?

I need all the stopping power I can get with that monster 110 under me. I know they are available for the CT 70's.

How about performance brake shoes for the stockers, maybe some Ferrados? I could swear I saw then somewhere - that would fit a hardtail?

How about a longer lever/arm or other mods....

They make disc brake kits for the stock front forks. It's not cheap, but having a brembo on a hardtail sure stops nice.

I just sourced a set for the PM member "Wurms"..

How mucho?? Brembos are the tits. I've got em' with anti-lock on my 800 lb. LT and its one of the best braking systems I've ever encountered - unbelievable that you can haul down a gorilla (WITH a 400 lb. trailer) so fast...

The attached picture is me contemplating a jump over Lake Powell ala Evil Knievel - RIP.

You'll need a special fork leg to hold the caliper, disc hub, brembo 2 pot caliper, 155mm rotor, master cylinder, brake line, rotor bolts. Figure between $500-$700 depending on the branding of the componentry used as both the US brembo suppliers don't stock that specific caliper unless you want to purchase in bulk.

Or for $20, you can get a set of Ferodo Brake pads from Minigunz.com that will be a tick better then stock, but not near as fun doing 2 finger stoppies and having dependable brakes that will stop when you want them to.

I think I'll give longer levers at the wheel and handlebars along with the Ferado pads a try first - I didn't plan on mortgaging my house.... Many thanks for the link.

Just wait until you see the bike Reynolds_Brad is building...

Restomods are fun, and in the grand scheme of things, in many cases it's cheaper to build 1 or 2 really nice restomods then to collect a bunch of originals/restorations that won't hardly be ridden.

Do yourself a favor and don't start serious restomodding, as it's much more fun then restoring...

my favorite hardtail disk brake convert.

Lens bike is one bad ass hardtail.

Disks are cool, i have them on two other of my minis but i think for my hardtail im sticking with drum as they are more then enough for the speeds i plan to be running at.

Any takers on the over/under that brad ends up with a disc brake front end on his hardtail? Since pigs don't fly and hell isn't freezing over, it's my guess that these plans change over the next 6 months as they always do...

Cough, budget ZB50, cough..

Is it just me or does anyone else think that oversized forks sticking way out the top of the triples looks stupid?

Nice one wise guy.

I cant deny that the ZB went way over my orignial plans. They only way disks would end up on my hardtail is if i made a custom longer, lighter, stronger frame, and you know ill be on to the chaly long before i ever take that on. So ide say your 6 month would be a safe bet for others to take.
