best all-around tires for a young kid on a Z50?

The original knobby type (Nitto, Trail Wing, etc.) seems like it would be pretty good on varied off-road surfaces. How about those trials-tread Cheng Shins, which come in 3.50 and 4.00 x 8? How about those snowblower tires, which I've seen in 4.80 x 8?

I want something that fits under the fenders of a hardtail Z, won't push out constantly on wet grass and won't pack with mud too bad...something confidence-inspiring for a young kid to learn to ride on. Suggestions?

go with the snowblower tires. they are great in the grass and mud and should just fit under the rear of your hardtail.
