| big pete's Panda build
I have another thread on my build over on BARF (bayarearidersforum.com) but I figure more people would be interested here. I'm half way through the build right now so here's some pics of the progress: So this is how it all begins. Drove 10hrs round trip to pick this thing up (SF to Eureka). Stock plated 2000 Jincheng Panda with 72 original miles. Bike was stored in the garage. ![]() ![]() Right after I picked it up, I ordered a Lifan 125 with a 26mm Mikuni carb since the stocker was slow as poop. Got it about a week later and can tell straight off the bat that the packaging sucked a$$ ![]() ![]() ![]() Got it with a broken sprocket cover Rode it around stock for another week or two and the I started the teardown and install of the Lifan (last week). As I was doing some research on how to wire up the motor, I ordered some Kitaco shocks and a 34t sprocket. ![]() ![]() Look at the clearance between the head and fender (what clearance?) ![]() I wasn't able to finish the swap since the intake manifold that came with the motor is too tall and angled wrong. I have to cut, reangle, and weld the manifold this weekend. I also need to get some connectors to finish up the wiring. Yesterday, the birthday present I got for myself (hell, the whole bike is !!! Thanks Motoshop Z!![]() ![]() Last edited by big pete; 05-30-2008 at 12:09 AM. |

The only items I'm waiting for now is a Kitaco carbon catch can and a TL seat. They should be here in 2-4 weeks. ![]() ![]() I still need to order some street tires and that should round off the mods for now. The next big mods will be a Over type 1 (+10cm) swingarm, longer shocks, 10in wheels, and maybe a front disk brake |

i at one time had a panda bike........ good thing your going to change everything out.......its not too reliable stock. but it sure is a TON of fun!!!! i got pulled over 40 feet outside of my complex on the main street.........cop didnt know what to tell me so he didnt give me a ticket or say anything. let me go since i had my M1 license. of course the bike was legal but i literally got it out of the crate 15 minutes prior. lol. |

Happy belated birthday, Pete. Looking good. From where did you order the seat and can? Can you PM me the price of the seat? |

When you get the extended swinger, sell those kitaco shocks to me. I've been looking for a used set of shocks for the back end to the longest time. DAVE |

Maybe I'll trade you Mike. I'm still deciding on whether if I want to paint the tank or not | |

i'd trade for someone with a tank of the appropriate color instead of painting the chrome-ish one. I'm sure someone would like a chrome one.

I really want to buy the dark purple/white Honda tank from CHP but I must resist. I also have my eye on the Kitaco chrome rear fender..... |

Nice build Pete! I got a mustard lime green tank with my panda, hahaha... if you stay with your stock forks, I'd keep the chrome tank. I think it looks pretty slick. And, keep the black on chrome theme. |

Thats the color theme I was going for but the tank is a little too chrome for my tastes. I was thinking about copying the Honda paint scheme - painting a majority of the tank black but keeping the the sides chrome. I'm also on the lookout for some cheap chrome fenders

Here's a picture of my Gorilla with chrome fenders and black engine too. The tank has the gray panels like you want so with a bit of imagination (and squinting(, you can figure out if you like the scheme. |
