bouncing tire at 36+ mph

So I took out my Z50 for a ride on the streets (plated lifan monkey frame) and I noticed that when I hit 36+ mph (verified by gps) the rear wheel starts bouncing up and down violently. Im running an xr75 swingarm and some unknown shocks. Any idea what might be causing this problem? Soft suspension? Tires need balancing? Bent rim?

I think the shocks are from an xr75. Do any of you balance your tires?

Make sure to check bearings in both wheels along with the bearing in the swingarm. Sounds dangerous!

could be that the rubber on your tire is out of round not the rim but just the rubber part itself...my bike did that so bad i had to get a new tire

Re: bouncing tire at 36+ mph

deflate the tire completely and reseat it so it is even all around and then put the air in it. Spin it and watch. If it hops, make sure your rim is not egged. If rim ok and still hops, repeat, repeat, repeat.

I balance my wheels...as a matter of fact, I need to rebalance the front one on my Pitster Motard because at 50mph it gives a hop.

I was watching it spin at slow peeds earlier today and it looks to be a little bent. Will have to replace them. Would most shops be able to balance such a small wheel?

Re: bouncing tire at 36+ mph

you can do it yourself its easy to do bud just let out all the air make sure the bead is totally off on both sides on the fim i would your soapy water soak the bead and rim also and just really over inflate the tire and then just check all around the rim bead the tire looks even all the way around thr rim, and if it doesnt lay it on the ground and take the biggest fing sledg hammer you can pick up and show that rim what you think bout it bein unbalanced lol

They are a little rusted so I might as well replace them. I can keep them as spares.
