Hello all.I have just ordered an 88cc big bore kit for my 1972 ct-70h.I did not get a high perf cam. I do have a cam that came out of a 1969 Honda s-65. I have heard somewhere that the "bigger" non mini trail Honda singles have more agressive cam profiles. Can anyone tell me if the cam from my s65 would be a good chice for my upgrade on the ct?Or do you know of anyplace I can get specs for this cam? Will it fit? And lastely can you suggest a performance cam that I could use.I am using the stock ct-70 head,88cc upgrade from TB w/aft 20 mm carb and their performance exhaust. Thanks in advance,Dan |

I have a similar set up. Did you get the race head with 25/22mm valves...? If so, the race cam that TB has is really nice, and definitely work the ~$49...

TB cam won't work in your plain-bearing CT head. Try the Dr. Pretty good runner: RACE CAM Z50R_1982_to_91 1982_&_83_C70 PASSPORT_82/83 1982_CT70 (20013 Bearing version: BEARING_TYPE RACE_CAM Z50_TO_1981 ATC70_ALL CT70_TO_1981 PASSPORT_80/81 TRX70_ALL XL70_SL70_CL70 Springs: HEAVY_DUTY VALVE_SPRINGS WITH_WIDER COIL_SPACING FOR_HI_LIFT_CAMS IN_50_70_HEADS (200149)

I have the specs out of the Honda s65 shop manual, The intake opens at 5 degrees btc, closes at 30 degrees abdc, duration of 215 degrees. exhaust opens 40 degrees bbdc and closes 5 degrees atdc, duration of 225 degrees.Lift is 1.0266 in. As an owner of a s65 motor,I'd say go for it,they like to rev, after all their rated hp is 6.22 p.s @ 10,000rpm A 70 cam is intake 5 open,20 closed. exhaust is 25 open,5 closed no duration specs but lift is the same at 1.0266.These are the same spec's as the old step thru Honda, the C50. The Honda shop manual says for the usa type CT70 it's 5.0 hp @8000 and the H is 4.0 @ 8000 which does not seem right, you'd think the H would have the higher output. |

The 1.0266 lift number quoted is likely where the duration is figured from. Standard camshaft .040" measuring point. 1mm lift isn't likely The Dr has his numbers and facts a little scrambled, too. You measure duration at some lift point due to the toughness of nailing down the exact point it starts to lift, with gentle opening ramps.
