Can bent Z50 fork legs be straightened safely?

If the tubing isn't visibly collapsed at the bend, can they be put in a press and straightened out? I'm talking about the lower chromed part, not the painted uppers...

I bent mine back. They were straight as new afterwords. I'll try to find a picture of the before. No need for an after, it looked just like any other straight fork leg.

I don't know how bent yours are, but I bent these back good enough that nobody would be able to tell.

Re: Can bent Z50 fork legs be straightened safely?

how'd you do it?

mine's just bent enough to limit travel and cock the wheel a little bit between the fork legs, and I wondered if I could straighten it and just replace the bushings in there. I haven't taken it out to look at the whole length of it yet...

Here's a diagram I drew up in two minutes. If you're going to replace the bushings, get some Delrin bushings. They are cheap and much better than OEM.

i've straightened over a dozen and never had an issue. now if they're bent enough to start a kink, throw them away

Thank you. I'll keep that in mind once I get around to taking them apart; and thanks for taking the time to do the diagram.
