Can you bend fork uppers??

I got all my crap buttoned up, and bolted on my handlebars, and noticed that the front wheel was cocked to the left.

I replaced the fork legs with CRF ones, so I know they aren't bent.

I looped it and trashed the old lowers, and it seems like I may have bent the uppers.

Is this possible??

Define "cocked to the left".

You can stand with a leg on either side of the front wheel and grip the tire then twist the bars straight so they line up. Just like little kids do on their bicycles when they crash.

Re: Can you bend fork uppers??

When I say "cocked to the left"

I mean that the handlebars are pointing straight, but the front wheel is aimed to the left a little. It's not much, but it's enough to annoy me.

I changed out the bars and clamps with some that I got from a friends bike, so I'll throw the stock ones back on and see how those work.

Arlindsay - yes, that works when you only have one securing point. When you have 2 bolts holding the bars in, it will not let you tweak the handlebars to compensate for a crash.

Would anyone have a set of fork uppers for sale??

Re: Can you bend fork uppers??

Have you tried it? I don't mean bend the bars or anything, I mean the forks get so that one leg is angled forward a little and the other is angle back just because the lower clamp is really just a piece of sheet metal. So by twisting it, you are just moving them back so they are paralell essentially straightening. Just try. It may work, or it may not and I'm just stupid.

Re: Can you bend fork uppers??

I may give it a try this afternoon.

If all else fails, I'll just find someone who has a set of uppers for sale

Hopefully you are right and it works.
