| Carb problem
I have a 98 z50r and I bought a 03 honda motor already decked out and its running a Mikuni carb with the takegawa intake. The carb has a side pull choke and it hits the tank petcock. Now I cant put the tank back on with out it hitting the chock. I have tried swiveling the petcock but same issure occured. So should I buy a new intake from TB or should I buy this petcock from TB - http://www.hondatrailbikes.com/catal...roducts_id=395 but not exactly sure if the TB petcock will work. If any one has ran into this problem |

get the petcock or get carb adjuster to swing it out of the way. http://tboltusa.com/store/product_in...roducts_id=130 |

quic free fix might be to spin the intake manifold 180 like the 110s have them not sure if it will clear have never tried it just thought of it.

I'm not sure if that petcock will work either but what sometimes works if you dont need too much more clearance is to take a dremel and oval the manifold mounting holes a little to pivot the manifold in the direction you need to go. Just make sure the manifold stays centered over the intake port. The problem with the 12 way adaptors is it raises the carb even more which can make the problem worse.

Here is a pic, I have more but they wont post for some reason. I the tank has about 1 to 1.5 inches to move forward which totally makes it worse. I might be able to dremel the top of the choke knob off so it flat on top.

Yeah thats a problem. Pivoting the manifold isnt gonna work. I'd be looking to get rid of the choke knob or get a different carb.

Damn, I bet the mikuni carb really rocks on this motor. Wonder if anyone would trade for a keihin carb?

I'd use a dremel tool ...like you said. Grind the black plastic choke button way down so it's barely bigger than the metal piece it mounts too. As long as you can still grab it and pull it out, you'll be ok.
