Change'n an 86 Z50 motor from 3 down to 3 up ???

I was wonder'n if I could put my 03 Xr shift shaft and shift arm or just the shift arm in to the 86 motor ?? Go'n from wide open second to 1st gear over rev has gotta be put'n a hurt'n on my motor ?????? .......

You will need to swap out the shift drum and star. The rest SHOULD be able to stay the same. Someone else can confirm this. But when I had a 1988 Z50R, I hated the 3 up pattern, I did the exact same when shifting. I started with a 1980 Z50R so I was still used to that pattern.

...or you can just remember its 3 down :P but yeah, you need to change the shift drum, and star. Have fun!

It's not that easy if your ride'n diff bikes back to back in races and your now gett'n really tired and your brain's not 100% and your hurt'n cause your 100 yrs old , don't train and haven't ridd'n in a month .

one time I was riding my buddies 74 z50 and couldnt for the life of me get it into neutral for nothin'! then after about 5 min of playing with it I realized it was opposite oops
