Lightbulb Checking interest!!

Ok well i am going to be building a "old school" 50. I have 1 main question, will a '73? i think ct70 swing arm and shocks fit on my 70's? z50? the z50 has shocks and a foot brake and i got it at one of the local flea markets. i would like to use z50 wheels also. also if i did the swing arm and shocks would it raise the rear end up a whole bunch of would he be about normal??

thanks any imput would be great.

Re: Checking interest!!

Swing arms are completely different in how they mount. Not interchangeable.

CT70 Arm:

Z50 swingarm (on the bottom)

The CT mounts between two spots on the frame, and an the Z50, the swingarm has the two spots and fits around the frame.

Re: Checking interest!!

The longer swingarm would be an xr75 swingarm. This is 4" longer than stock and can be made to fit with some light mods.

Re: Checking interest!!

Another angle of the bike.

To make it fit you need to cut 3/16" off the inside of both mounting tabs.

Then you need to weld a brake stop.

Re: Checking interest!!

Makes the bike handle a lot better in my opinion. The longer wheelbase makes the bike a lot more stable.

Re: Checking interest!!

Any of the older dual shock xr75 and xr80 swingarms will fit. I am not sure what year they went to the mono shock but the one you are looking at will work fine.
