CL70 Piston

Does anyone know if an 88cc kit for the stock 50 head will work in a 1970 CL70? I'm not sure if the piston (flat top) and cam will work.

Re: CL70 Piston

Nope...piston deck height is too small. Cam design is totally different.

PISTON_KIT 52MM_BORE_GBO 81_&_OLDER_HEAD 81_AND_OLDER_CRANK (100042)

BEARING_TYPE RACE_CAM Z50_TO_1981 ATC70_ALL CT70_TO_1981 PASSPORT_80/81 TRX70_ALL XL70_SL70_CL70

That 70 head has 25/22 valves and decent ports. Odd steel cast in chamber and non-bearing cam, but my 180hp GS1100/1425 cams ride in bare aluminum too...

You can also use the 6V CT70 piston from Trailbikes.

Re: CL70 Piston

Z , wouldn't the TB 6v ct70 piston be too small for the 88cc cylinder, or is the Cl70 a longer stroke and same 52mm bore? If it fits , I will go TB.

Re: CL70 Piston

TB offers a CL headed 88 kit, so the piston's 52mm and has the right dome and pin to top distance for the early 70 head. TB and DrATV pistons would both work.
