I ended up porting the head ( 25/22mm valves) on my bike, a ct70, installing this cam http://dratv.com/bez5atcttrxl.html and ordered the 20mm aft/shengway carb. 1. since my head is ported and has the same size valves as the race head, is it as good assuming my porting is decent? i posted pics of the one head i ported, but ported the one on my bike a little nicer, better flow around the valve stem. 2. i plan on making an intake, prolly stainless, but wondered if there is any affect on having a non-tapered intake? (should have enough material to match the intake port on the head to 20mm if it isn't already? can't measure it til friday) 3. as a baseline would the 86# main jet be a good starting point or a lil lean? hopefully my low budget build will run decent Last edited by bluebanshee; 02-20-2007 at 09:45 PM. |

runs terrible with the stock carb which needs rebuilt but im not wasting the money (float is soldered, pilot is drilled). once its revved (loading up?) it revs quickly and doesnt appear run differently with the mixture screw even though ive dipped and cleaned the carb several times.

my carb is just way too tired but it can definately pull more gearing with its topend pull. if carbs here by friday ill have to fab up an intake and ill have it running friday night-saturday if all goes well.

you cant use the stock manifold for a 20mm carb. is this the one you bought? http://dratv.com/20cagrforbig.html |

yes, thats the carb I got today. even if i could use the stock manifold, i wouldn't, it looks too restrictive. if i get some stainless pipe i can offset it and bed it how i like.

the 20mm manifold costs more than the carb itself, does anyone else sell a cheap 20mm manifold

Used the stock intake, shortened it about 1/4", moved it <45 degrees to the left, welded it up and matched the ports up. too late to mess with it anymore tonight... pops if you give it full throttle right away and sometimes spits gas back out filter side. won't know til i get to take it out on the road and try to tune it in.
