ok so i replaced the stator assembly and put everything back together and it started right up, but as some of you might remember, the original key sheared so i picked up a woodruff key at home depot and shaped it to fit. now, that homeade key cuased alot of havoc and sheared and when it sheared it took a chunk of metal out of the keyway so now i need to find a new crankshaft for my 72 but i cant find one anywhere on the net, any suggestions? if its to expensive ill just save up the money and buy a lifan or something.

I'm sure I have a used Z50 crank assembly here, give me a day or so to look for it.

I have, what appears to be, a brand new crankshaft assembly for z50. I don't think that it is a honda based shaft, but its either new or just slightly used.

if the shaft is ruined to the point that you can't use it ... why not just jam the key in and tack weld the flywheel onto the shaft? At this point, waddya got to lose? That would be a heck of a lot easier than installing a new crank.

Hope you get it all together soon. Have you ever split the cases before?

Oh hell. That's pretty messed up. That's just a real easy way of retarding your ignition.

I guess I should put in that new honda key I bought and take out the one I shaped to fit before that happens to me. I think I've got a crank around but you'd probably be better off paying $30 for one rather than using the random parts I have laying around. |
