| CT 70 float adjustment
I have a 1991 CT70 with 100 miles it idles rich and wont drive over 10 mph without removing the air filter assembly. I've cleaned the carb and jets with no improvement. Does any one know the float setting for this bike or have any other ideas to cure this thing. Thanks, Jeff

If the bike is running rich (indicated by a black, dry spark plug. If the plug is black and wet, you have an oil leak) then you can try to raise the clip on the needle attached to the carb slide (the exact name escapes me) in order to lean out the mixture. Drop it one increment at a time and check if it lean, but not TOO lean. You should also try adjusting the air screw out from full closed 1 1/2 turns and adjust by turning the screw either way 1/4 to get the highest rpm. If it starts revving high, turn the idle screw out until the bike is at around 1500 RPM +/- 100RPM, or a comfortable, nice idle. Get a new plug. Take off the air filter assembly and clean the filter out with gas and put a bit of clean motor oil in it. remove any excess oil from the filter. |
