| CT110 engines?
I've seen a lot of builds using Honda Nice engines on here, has anyone ran across a place that sells CT110 engines? preferably new. with the high/low range? |

Just a fair warning, if you aren't familiar with the engine, they can be tricky. They are nothing like CT70 motors.

Here are some guys who might have some Trail 90/110 info for you; check out these two threads on the advrider site (one thread's just about the bikes, one's about a couple of guys going on some huge long ride on a few of them): Post Pictures of your CT90 / CT110 - ADVrider Charge Of The Midgets pt.2_Cape York on 110cc - ADVrider Apart from cousins of mine who have kept a small fleet of the bikes on their farm in Montana for checking irrigation lines a couple times per day, I could count the number of these things I've seen in the last couple of decades on the fingers of one hand. I wonder how different the ATC90/110 motor is, apart from the recoil start? Could the kickstart shaft and sidecovers be swapped with a C90 or something and an ATC motor with the hi/lo box be used, maybe? ATCs show up on Craigslist around here pretty often. I wonder if the ATC125M motor would swap in, and if it's significantly more powerful than a 110? |

I was musing as I typed, as I frequently do, and did not research it first. Seems the tolerance level of such behavior is a bit low around here--lighten up, already--but I'm interested, so thanks for mentioning your previous work; I'll look it up.

Hi,I realize this response is a tad out of time here but I just signed up and thought I would throw in my 2 cents any how if It might be of any help.I'm restoring Honda CT70's Original and modifide and I recently finished a 79 ct with an ATC 110 Hi/low range.Wasn't much problem installing and runs great Night and day from what was in it especially when you get done cruzing down the high way 50 plus with your girl friend on the back and go off road and flip the gear box into low and have all the power and tork to go just about any where (riding double no efect) at the flip of a switch it don't get any better.I am currently building a ct70 with a 125 with hi/low and expect to have a lot more power.Rember these Hondas are bulit proof a lot of these engines are still running good from almost 40 years ago,I know I own quite a few of them still starting on the fist kick amazing.Any how thats my 2 cents good luck. |

yeah but, from what i read in fatcat's threads a 177 would beat that 10fold at 80 mph with more torq than you can gear i bet it's fun as hell.

The GPX177V2 absolutely kills the ATC125M motor I had in my CT70. There is no comparasin. And, it weighs about 20 lbs less and I didn't have to fudge up footpegs or make mods to get the motor in. There is no doubt that the 125M motor is bulletproof and will go rap out to 50mph. My 177 is a manual clutch, can do 80+ and you dont even notice when riding 2 up. Also, getting parts for a 125M will be a nightmare in the future should something go wrong. I suppose nothing will ever go that horribly wrong with it though. As and FYI, you can convert the 125M to a manual if you steal the clutch cover and components from a honda CL or SL90. Then you can have a dual range 4-speed manual. |

Hey, Ya I know the gpx motors are bad to the bone, light, and powerful and I'm sure there very dependable, this was more of a classic type thing when your all done you still have a Honda in a honda,I know it's all old school stuff but it keeps it unique,I'm not trying to out perform everything else with the 110/125 I was merly stating that it was a good match for that bike it depends on what you want to do, If you want that much performance why even bother with a ct70 bike at all? After all the suspention is definatly old school, even If you beef that up Its still a small bike.I know what your saying though I have a few different motors in mind for a couple of bikes, but some are strickly street and some on and off road. There's no end to what you can do with these bikes you have to draw the line on what your working on.There just trail bikes.I have the cluches and covers you mentioned good Idea for some of the the motors I'm doing, thats what I was going to use in some of the orig. 4 spds.I have with manual cluches,as far as installing one of these motors in the ct70s its nothing all you have to do is cut 1 8th off the engine mount on rt side top and just purchase the foot pegs that go to a ct 110 and its in no prob.I know where your com'en from though, but on most of my bikes I'm trying yo keep it all honda but on some of the street blasters you really can't, but those are Special orders you know that...And What about dohc and Turbo's you see what I mean if you got the geen...Be cool...... |

well i'd put the 110 in it in stead of fudging everything up with vert. The reason for me and possibly others for keeping ct70 or a z50 in my case is exactly that, it's a small bike. i'm in it to see some one's mouth drop the F open when i fly by on 8's doing 65 mph on a 50. hell adam already did 80 and passed up a big triumph. Old school doesn't mean worse or bad. as far as on and offroad my stok tractor grips hold up justfine on the street, so i'll just call it an enduro.
