| Ct70 electrical conversion.
Ok. I know ive asked this several times, but when I look at the parts on the internet i need, I dont want to order the wrong thing. So the question is: I have a 1974 6v ct70. I recently bought a 12v cdi motor for it. How do i make it work? I have a lighting stator already installed. I've heard of 2 ways to do it. I want the cheapest one. As long as all the lights and horn and stuff works. So it would be totally rad if one of you could post everything i need with a link to the part so i KNOW im getting the right thing! Pics of the wiring i have: coming from the new motor: ![]() inside my frame: ![]() from the spark plug ![]() and i also have a cdi box for it too. I already plan on getting these: new wiring harness: Honda Trail Bikes and i also need some sort of turn signals. Any links to some fairly inexpensive ones that arent huge ugly stockers? i like the smaller dax ones: Honda Trail Bikes but kinda pricey. So if someone could hook me up with some links to EVERYTHING i need to make this work, in the cheapest way. I would really appreciate it. Oh and maybe someone else pm me on how to hook it all up After i get everything. Thanks. Alex |

Don't buy that wire harness. Buy a CDI style harness. Webllc on ebay has em cheap if you email him directly. Other than that dratv has pictures of wiring conversions for CDI motors. The CDI Motor and the stock CT70 harness require some serious items to make it all work together...you are better off getting a complete CHina harness and rewiring the whole bike IMO. I just picked up a harness off this guy for $30 and it included a new rectifier. I mounted it in my CT and in about 2 hours had it buttoned up and running. |

Thanks Brad. What model designation is that? As in K0, K1, etc. Anyone know where I can buy one? Honda trail bikes doesn't seem to have 'em, unless I didn't look hard enough. |

From 76 on there is no "K" designation, just the year. The 1975 K4 was the last of that naming convention (me thinks).

Thanks bkr, but daaang is that stuff expensive! Maybe a better route is the Chinese street legal kits for sale on Ebay? What all would I need for the conversion? Harness, regulator/rectifier, fuse block... I know I'm missing some other bits too.

alright. my ct has been forgotten. haha. fatcaat told me where to get everyhting from this guy on ebay. but idk if hes going to get anything back in stock. i bought the motor from fat caat and i know it has a light coil in it already. so could i buy a STOCK 6v wiring harness, new, just so everything is legit, and run this eBay Motors: HONDA CT70 ATC70 SS50 Z50 XL70 CDI Electronic Ignition (item 110288472645 end time Sep-17-08 23 04 PDT)except i wouldnt need the coil part since i already have it? |

Buying that isnt going to get you any closer than you already are !!! You already have a cdi motor with a lighting coil. If you're going to spend that much you may as well buy a 12v harness new from Honda, and replace the bulbs with 12v. JMO.

I'm with Fast. A Honda or DRATV harness and a handfull of bulbs is the path I would choose. Not sure about the bulbs in the speedo...seems I have read there is a bulb for that but I just looked and did not see one at my local auto parts store. I also heard from other PM'ers that auto blinker relays work fine (the cheapies). |

$21 for the harness and he has write-ups specifically for putting a CDI motor in a points bike. I think you can get bulbs, relay, and harness for $50 ish. ENGINE_SWAP_WIRING INSTALLING_A_CDI ENGINE_IN_POINTS TYPE_BIKE (SUB_W_1) |

This might be of interest as well. Takes your 12VOLT CDI and makes it 6V. I wouldn't do it but it means you get to keep your old bulbs. Just plug in the motor CDI and this and off you go. 6_VOLT REGULATOR RECTIFIER CONVERTS_12V CLONE_ENGINES TO_6_VOLT!! | Re: Ct70 electrical conversion. Email that guy from ebay...that's your cheapest route. I am running this harness on 3 bikes and you can't beat it for the price. I got a harness, keyswitch, and rectifier, coil, and locking mechanisms for less than half the price of just the Honda harness.
