ct70 engine rebuild???

if i have an old roached out ct70 engine that barely runs and i have a whole new top end and crank and cam from a new crf70, can i rebuild with these parts? thanks in advance

I think the rod length is different between the two. I am sure someone will chime in and tell me I am wrong though.

i read in another thread that the 1982 model and the newer 90s ct 70s are top end compatable with the newer crf 70s

thanks guys i actually have the rods for the crf70 topend too. maybe i could change those out and it will work. but if anybody has good knowlege of this please fill me in.

What year ct70? 6 volt or 12 volt?

If it is a 72 it is 6 volt.

hey whats the difference between the ct70 and the sl70??? i have a early 70s sl70 in storage still runs great and all just needs some TLC

The SL70 is a street legel one, bult for driveing around town. The CT70 was built as a trail on off road bike. Basicly the same bike one is built from street perspective, the other from a trail perspective. The earlier the model the more it is worth, hard to find old ones. The 80s are not common but around.

Yes, you will need a 12V CDI-compatible stator, the old points-style one from the CT won't work at all
