| CT70H Trans in XR50 Motor. Make Shift Up?
Hey, thinking about getting around to installing the CT70H trans in my 84 Z with '00 XR 50 motor. I would like to keep the upshift pattern. Where do I go to find the right parts for that? Thanks! |

You're going to need either a late-'85 ATC70 or an '86-'87 TRX70 shift drum in order to have a 4-up shift pattern, and you will also have to use the CT70H kickstarter spindle with the 24T pinion gear, the XR50 pinion will not mesh properly with the 35T 1st gear, driven gear. The XR pinion is 21T and the 1st gear, driven is 36T.

Ok cool. I thought I remember seeing a company that sold these aftermarket. Anyone? Yes, I have the entire gear set out of the CTH with kicker shaft. Will swap that all out. Thanks! |

My CL trans was 4-down. Now serving duty in Hymie's CT117.

dont plan on doing any huge jumps. The CT70H 4 speed has the thinnest gears out of any other 4 speed. I know cuz i compaired them to a lifan and a four trax 70 trans. I got about 5 hours out of it landed hard once and kaboom. If its just easy riding you should be fine.

Yeah, I have heard that about them. Currently this bike is my trail bike and I have hit some pretty serious stuff with it but I am planning to get it street legal. Might still keep it and enduro but I doubt I'll be skyin it like I used to. I'm getting old anyway One note on that though, if you are hitting a huge jump and you pulled the clutch in at landing, no kaboom right? Its the impack and shock, plus the lack of a rubber mounted sprocket, correct? Anyhow, any ideas where to find this shift drum for down shifts somewhere online. Rather not have to go to the stealership for it. |

Check Dr ATV. There have the drums to switch to 4 up, 4 down, 1 down 3 up, etc.
