My Mood: | ct70k1 Lifan Sprocket ?????
I replaced my stock engine with a 125cc lifan 4 speed manual and now need to know what front sprocket to put on it, I have a 45T rear sprocket and the front sprocket is the only one I really want to change. Thanks Justin

When ordering the Lifan 125 sprocket take notice if it has the bastard sized 20mm output shaft. Dratv and Hooper imports both sell them. I'd go with a 17...... |

ya it has the 20mm and I actually paid for the correct shaft and sprocket and got the wrong one so the dealer has already mailed the correct one, but I was just trying to get a census on what you all think it could handle, It should be a 14T that I am getting

I suspect that 17 is what you will eventually end up with.... did you buy the motor new...?..did it not come with a sprocket? |

It did but came with a 428 sprocket and I ordered a 420, Im not so educated in sprockets, so what will the 17t do for me versus a 14t or 15t???

| Re: ct70k1 Lifan Sprocket ????? That made me chuckle a bit "crazy top speed"... You should gear it taller so that 1st gear isn't worthless and spreads the power delivery out evenly giving you the most usable power possible in every gear.. Personally, I think the 45t on the rear is too big for anything with the Lifans internal gearing. But if you only want to change the front, then the 17 is the better option.

ya now that I read it after I wrote it, it does sound kind of funny, what is going to be lacking if I leave the 14t that I received

front sprocket: smaller=less top end, torquier, wheelies, plowing bigger= more top end, less torque rear sprocket: opposite relationship; bigger=slower/torquier, smaller=faster less torquier With a bigger motor, 14 in the front is probably smaller than you need, since you're probably not lacking for low-end power |

| Re: ct70k1 Lifan Sprocket ????? If you leave the 14t on (with a 45t on the rear) you'll be lacking top speed and you'll find that 1st gear will get you nowhere, but you'll have a really nice wheelie machine with a lot of bottom end power and really good torque.
