| CTKO build
I started this project years ago then got too busy to finish. A month or so ago I decided it was time to pull out the boxes and finish this! After a month wait for a coil (long story) I was able to make a little progress. I am started to get excited as this is the most she has looked like a real bike! Attached are a couple of pics, please forgive the poor lighting. |

Thanks very much! That is my first ever attempt with anything other than a rattle can. The paint dealer thought I was nuts attempting candy. A few spots are a little undershot but I'm ok for the first attempt. I think next time will go much better. The kicker is I put a few minor chips here and there trying to get her back together. I still need a few odds and ends but home to post some real progress soon. |

The sad part of the story is I no longer have the matching headlight bucket, chain guard, and rear shock caps. Those got destroyed while drying...(ex tossed a towel on them) I don't think I can ever match the paint now. |

Beautiful bike... That's what it's all about right there! Keep us posted on your progress... The color looks pretty darn close to OEM, an NOS headlight bucket might do the trick, you'd probably be the only one that would notice a difference..

Forgot to mention that the chain guard is still avail in candy red (headlight bucket too) and I think dratv has something you could use for shock covers........

I hope to try and kick her over this weekend. Very nervous about that as it has been a while since I put it together. I'll try to post a few pics when I get more done. Thanks! |

While it took me longer than I had hoped, tonight it ran! Please keep in mind I did the motor years ago so I am way happy!!! If I get real full of myself I might try throwing a chain on her and see if the tranny works... It will not idle so I have some tuning work ahead. |

Congrats on getting it running! Having seen the bike in person this last weekend I know that you'll have it riding on the street in no time. |

OK, here is a strange one... I can easily start the bike and it seems to run correct above quarter throttle. After several airscrew and idle adjustments same problem. Checked the needle etc. This carb has new everything. Thinking that might be the problem I grabbed a carb off of a perfect running 70 and while it runs better, still won't idle. The motor has ran for all of 5 mintues since brand new everything (save cases) with no load, just sitting there. Could timing or valves cause this? I'm a little stumped as it does not sound horrible when it is running, just won't idle. I guess I will put the new carb on the old bike and see if it runs perfect as well for grins. |

Does it seem to be rpm related meaning does it just quit if it falls below a certain rpm or is it more throttle opening related ? If you're sure it's not the carb, first I would check to make sure you dont have a tight valve. Then if you have a method of checking spark while it's running (timing light, spark tester) watch for the spark to go away as the rpms drop. Are you running a battery ?
