| Cylinder interchange
Hello Could I use a 1973 style cylinder and piston on a newer engine? (panda jincheng) - with the Panda cylinder head? |

Lots of variables there, how's a firm 'maybe' sound for an answer? : )

I've got the Panda top end off; needs rings. 1973 motor has cracked cylinder head. Just want to get something together even if not permanent to quench my "first ride" desire!!! (corny, I know..) Then I will restore/mod/etc.... |

Well, at 6am I took apart the '73. Parts looked the same internally, then I busted one of the rings, so this plan is done for now. I'm hoping my friend may still have the stock 49cc Panda parts; but it's too early to call him! I just want to ride one of these things to get it out of my system!!! |

the jincheng panda motors are teh same as the pre 81 short rod motors... the cylenders will fit they are teh same height... when i built the g/f's 04 jincheng motor i used a TB 88 kit made for the 81 and older motors and it worked out great, everything interchanges except teh camshaft, it has funky bearings on it... dratv has some of the interchange info if you look under their performance parts section kit was 140 bucks and it runs like a dream ( light bore 88 ) |

Thanks for the help, I have just started getting into these bikes and don't know the differences yet. My friend did have the stock cylinder & piston so I am going to install these for now. See attached pics for all the great stuff he gave me including a spare motor! Thanks again , Josh. http://rides.webshots.com/photo/2140...89198137hBrXRX http://rides.webshots.com/photo/2569...89198137MIRPNK |
