Disassembling Rear suspension?

Is there any way to disassemble the rear suspension on the Z50R? My springs are sticking, and sometimes they dont want to uncompress.

Any ideas?

Re: Disassembling Rear suspension?

compress the springs with a screwdriver between the black plastic thing and the top shock eyelet. Just enough to get an adjustable end wrench on the locknut. Loosen that. Use a screwdriver in the eyelet to keep it from spinning. Then you are all set. Assembly is just the same thing in reverse. I'm 15 y/o. I figured it out in my garage all alone. No manual or special tools. Just two flat screwdrivers and an adjustable end wrench.

Okay, so let me get this right. You compress the spring with 2 flatheads (with them poked inside the coils.

You pull the spring DOWN? The locknut will be where? On bottom of the shock stud?

Damn, it would really help if there was an exploded view of the shock.

Re: Disassembling Rear suspension?

i did it last night, not hard at all... I took some misc. springs from other projects and came up with a budget HD shock set bad part is one of the shocks had been sitting sooo long that it's frozen fully6 extended, i bolted it to the bike with no spring on it and jumped up and down on it as hard as i could and it wouldn't budge.. a hammer couldn't even move it either

oh well, i'll do my budget shock write-up another time i guess... good news is my new HD res style shocks for my Z should be here today :woot

Re: Disassembling Rear suspension?

Nevermind, I finally got them apart. That was a b!tch.

Ends up, the shock absorber shaft wad bent. Dont know how the hell you bend one of those, but the PO did.

Anyone got a stock one they would wish to sell?

I got a set. They are dirty. But this is what they look like if you want them. Also, there are no metal shock mount bushings but you can take yours out and pop them into these shocks if you want them. I'll clean them up withing the next few hours and get some better pictures.

Re: Disassembling Rear suspension?

Both are straight and move as much as they should. I think that $20 +shipping would be fair if I cleaned them up. Let me know if that's good with you.

Re: Disassembling Rear suspension?

How about $15 + shipping. I know I would call $20 a bit high.
