i have a chance to buy a 50cc motor from a z50 and was wondering if i could run lights on it

You will need one of these Baja Designs Stator XR/CRF50/70 Wound for Lights if the motor doesn't have one already.

What year motor? CDI or points? If its points you can buy a stator kit with a lighting coil. If its CDI you can go EddieNewYork's route.

i'm pretty sure its cdi....its off a 98z50

Then you can wind your own stator (see link: http://home.comcast.net/~pgailunas/stator.html ) or you can buy one thats ready to go as. Ill be winding my own next week so can tell you how hard it is. Seems reasonably easy to do though.
