Engine Storage ?

Hi
Just about to remove the standard Honda 4speed manual engine from my Gorilla to upgade to Honda Nice , the standard engine is in 'mint' condition , unmarked cases etc etc....

The Carb , isn't an issue , but I would really interested in alternative ways to Store the Engine for a long period of time , hopefully minimalising storage decay internally & externally !
I was concerned with the regular cool damp conditions we get over here , rather than the occasional run of sunshine during the summer months.

For the quick witted , yes its in a sturdy crate

Thanks for any comments
Richard

Re: Engine Storage ?

See if you can get it vaccum packed like for food storage (might be hard with such a large crate)? But what about trying to wrap it like a marina does for boats with the heavy duty vynal wrapping? Yeah, maybe dumb, but just trying to throw some ideas out there......

Re: Engine Storage ?

Take the carb off and fill the entire engine with oil.

Re: Engine Storage ?

if it was me for the internals,i would run till hot, change the oil, then restart and use fogging oil to coat the pcylinder walls, valves, then i would be sure it was at tdc,or loosen rocker arms so that valves aren't open allowing moisture into cylinder.tape, then bag intake, exhaust port.lastly coat outside of engine with a petroleum based corrosion preventive spray-should be able to get at boat shop's
