Exhaust and wheel paint qustions from the Birthday boy!

It is my Birthday weekend, that means I get SHOP TIME!!! I am going to be painting and sandblasting tomorrow. I was going to paint some exhaust and wanted to know what stuff you guys use? Hi temp black but from where? I thought I would hit pep boys tomorrow too. WHat color of the duplicolor is a good match for the wheels? Or any other paint color tips?

I dont want to do a search and that it is my B-day I dont have too! Thanks for your help!

I painted my z50 exhaust with high temp black (I think krylon) I got a Fred Meyers. It has held up so far and looks alot better, you cant beat a $4 paint job.

Re: Exhaust and wheel paint qustions from the Birthday boy!

I can only ever find "Gloss Black" high temp paint for 250 degrees or less I think.... The 500+ degree stuff is always satin or flat black...not a good match for wheels. But I tried the gloss stuff and it rubs off a little but does the job well enough. I always get the stuff at Checker or any auto parts store... If you can do high temp powdercoat it looks 10000x better...but that can be a PITA.

the gloss black high temp krylon stuff 500 degree plus, is great on everything my whole 50 looks new from it. the only spot that has worn off is the top of the brake pedal where my foot goes the rest has held up fine ,even the right side engine case.

if you could afford it go with the ceramic coating or powder coating for your exhaust and other engine components.

edit:happy birthday

I agree with the ceramic and powder coat comments. But I have a few bikes I just want to "freshen" up. And I want to do it tomorrow not wait. You know how us guys get with the tunnel vision.

Re: Exhaust and wheel paint qustions from the Birthday boy!

Then tunnel vision on somthing that will outlast paint

Ceramic coating can be had in several colours and has a higher heat resistance than high temp paint and is also alot more durable, perfect for exhaust and engine components and lasts longer than paint.

Powder coating can be had in multiple colours won't rub off as easy as paint and lasts longer than paint. perfect for frames, tanks, forks, swingarms, engine side covers.

then compare the time saved over the long run, spend 5-8 hours sandblasting and painting every year or so, or spend 5-8 hours sandblasting and powercoating/ceramicoating every 10+ years give or take a year or 2
