I don't think it is the same guy,but I emailed a guy from Egay and he said he'd sell me a Z50 clone with MSO and all street legal stuff without an engine.I might do it and stuff a 140cc or something like that on it.

He told me 125 for the Z frames, but those papers look kinda sketchy. I think I'll wait. |

I sent him an email and he told me 100 for the z frames and 150 for the CT frames. Wonder why hes fluctuating the prices.

Ok, so I ended up getting one of the Lifan 50 frames from this guy. I just got it in the mail today. The guy (Craig...minitrailpartsunlimited) said it came with a title that had a 17 digit vin number on it, and it turns out that it came with an MSO (Certificate of Origin) with the 17 digit number on it. At this point I haven't verified if I'll be able to get a title for it, since the IL DMV is closed on Mondays. I'll check tomorrow and find out what the deal is. Having never bought a brand new motorcycle before I'm not sure if they just come with a title, mso, or what. I figured for the money I paid that I'd take a chance and see if I could get the frame titled. If it turns out I can't then I'm going back to Craig and asking to return the frame. He told me straight out that it came with a title. Quote:

Still think for those guys wanting to do a CT...just find yourself a frame that is not all rusted up and not bent or dented for cheap and go through a titling service for $85 and you have a fully street legal bike that you don't have to jump through hoops for. That's my 2 cents. However, its nice to know I can get some parts that don't matter if they are honda or not. |

i bought one of the 50 frames from craig as well and dont think im going to have any problems titling it in maryland. i had a neighbor a couple years ago that sold the panda fun riders and had no issues puting them on the road and this is the same thing.

all mso's look like a title. they all have record etc stamped across the face you can not copy one .they have thread like border also. that is what honda uses.if you have a real one copy it and it should not look the the one in your hand it should look different. that is as of newer mso's

I also bought a z50 frame from this guy; thank you for bringing it to my attention autofull. I am almost positive that the frames he is selling are street legal and can be registered. Heres why: I bought a new lifan 110cc CT70 copy bike that has the exact same frame, and the exact same "looking" MSO, as the ones this guy is selling. I bought it from hooperimports and it came with an MSO also. I was second guessing the MSO all the way to the DMV, but when i took it there i had no problems. It took a while but i walked out with a tag and drove the bike home. (you dont need insurance in florida to tag and register a motorcycle). So for anyone else that got one i am almost positive it will work out for you. |

FYI: You can Title and Register just about any Vintage CT70 frame for as little as $85 plus registration and title fee in your state. go to its-titles.com. I've used this service for my cl70, two ct70's, my cb750, s65. Getting a title to a vintage bike is cakewalk. I'd much prefer getting the title to a 1970's ct70 that I can paint whatever color I want, than to spend money on having a Lifan shipped to me. Call me crazy...but you can pickup CT70 tubs for as little as $10 at swapmeets. You can get rollers for like $50. |

The only reason i bought the lifan is that its a z50 frame. I dont know if you can get a street legal title like you can for the ct70's.

The MSO looks legit other than that... has watermark and thread in paper. Here's the thing though, he sent me a blank MSO with a watermark on it too. He says that I could fill that one out and use that if I think the type: dirtbike will be a problem. I filled that one out via my printer and some creative work, so it looks official and so it doesn't have hand written info on it. That's where I'm at right now. I haven't made it down to the dmv yet. I asked for a bill of sale, but haven't received one yet. I made one up, and was going to try that when I go to the DMV next time.

Ok, here it is. I went back into the DMV today with all the paperwork I thought I'd need. I filled out the the blank MSO that he sent very carefully via some computer work. In the field that says "dirtbike" on the original MSO I put "Road/Trail", just like what is on my title for my CT70. I had to make up a bill of sale from the ebay auction that I got the frame from, and brought that with. I talked to 1life2live and he said he did the same and his DMV wouldn't accept that. Don't know why. I talked to the guy at the DMV, paid my 6.5% tax on the bike, walked over to the plates window, wrote out another check and walked out with plates. I now have a plated frame Note: I don't think everyone will have luck getting these titled. It'll depend on your state, depend on if they'll accept the MSO with "dirtbike", or depend how good you are on a computer to fill out the other MSO, and then throw in a bit of luck. Now the true test will be when I get the title in the mail. Shouldn't be a problem, but I'm a pessimist until I have it in hand. |
