Front wheel clearance on a soft tail with a 110 engine

Hey guys

I'm currently building a 73 AK4 with a 110 clone engine. I mounted the engine in the frame the other day and it looks as though I might have some issues. The head on the 110 is bigger than the stock 50, and I also have larger tires installed than the stock trailwings. If I lean on the bars, I can compress the shocks to the point where the tire will rub against the fins on the engine.

Has anyone ever run into something like this before? I know the guy I bought the engine from had his lower fork extensions bent forward to eliminate this problem. I don't really want to have to do that.

Are you sure your forks aren't bent now? It's pretty common...

+1" fork legs might be the answer; like from fast50s or other. The guy named "Z" on this board might have some recommendations that would work too. He rounded up some longer ones for some overseas model for ShapeShifter's bike; look back through the posts a month or three for a thread called something like "Can of worms to can of whoopass." That's the one I'm thinking of that used them.

Thanks for the heads up on that one - it was an interesting read. I actually have a set of forks from a 2003 Monkey on their way from Z - I might have to divert them from their intended usage.

Those forks are from a 1993 Monkey Baja, but they are identical to the 2003 Monkey fork legs.
