So I've never owned a monkey before but I've always somewhat wanted one. I've owned many xr75's MR50', ct70's, and all years of mini trail 50's.

Tonight a guy posts an add on craigslist for what he says is a "cherry" 2002 Honda Monkey that is maroon and white in color for $500. Honestly I have no idea of what a monkey is worth but I figured it had to be worth way more than that. I call him up and he tells me it was imported in yada yada yada. Anyways it's 11 at night and I want it, I know if I wait until the morning it will be gone so I tell him I'm on my way. I make the hour and a half drive and there she is. I immediately notice it's not maroon and white but it does have a genuine Honda monkey tank and side covers. I really start looking it over and notice it has a Lifan engine in it. I put 2 and 2 together and figured out it was a chinese bike with a few genuine honda parts (I now know it's a lifan panda). I told the guy I really wasn't interested in it and sorry to have him out past midnight and he says man I'm sorry, would it be worth $400 to you? I tell him I will give $350 and I loaded it up and took it home.

I also got the stock panda tank, side covers, and a box of various new honda parts that I need to look threw.

I'm guessing I got a hell of a deal still?

$350 for a lifan monkey clone is still a good deal.

You got a good deal, even better if you got a title or MSO.

Super deal!!! The real Monkey tank and side cover alone are worth more than that.

Did you get a title with the bike?

As Razzo mentioned, the tank and side covers are worth the price of admission

He gave me a folder with paperpwork, the folder said "monkey bike MSO" but their was no MSO In it.
I also live in a state that did not Title off road vehicles until 2006

Sorry I never got pics but here's one of the bike. If it was worth 500 to someone the way you see it in the pics I would sell it. otherwise I guess I add it to the collection with my 86 christmas special, MR50, 73 74 76 XR75's, and a 68 minitrail.
