Help building 70 motor

I am buildin an atc 70 motor and looking at the cheapest way to do it. What route should i take. I only use it to putt around town on and ride wheelies. It is actually pretty fine now i just ould like a bit more umph not a torque monster. And no im not throwing a lifan in it. I DONT CARE HOW CHEAP IT WOULD BE. So my thought is. . .

USING STOCK 70CC
1. Throwing a new set of rings in.
2. Using a thinner copper gasket
3. Throw in a new better cam
4. HD valve springs
5. HD cam chain
6. Anything else with this setup???

Using the dratv 85cc Kit

Using the 95cc dratv Kit

May I ask why you are so adamantly against putting a Lifan in it?

Re: Help building 70 motor

i put a 88 kit on my trx70 and with a stock grind lifan cam and a e22 head and a 19mm carb and its absolutely a blast. I swaped out the crank and put a 12 volt one in it so i didnt have to deal with the shorter by 1mm rod length.

Isnt there a twelve volt braket conversion you can get to just bolt on a twelve volt stator and staor plate???

if you have the atc 70 motor
you already have the hot rod head.
you dont want to bore the cases out,so go with the 85cc kit.

Re: Help building 70 motor

Well, you said the cheapest, right. The cheapest would be a different motor.

You put a 85cc kit on it, and the CDI conversion and you've broken $200. Not to mention that when yo put that 85 or 88 kit on there, you'll need to rejet your carb. To really get the benefit, you'll need a different carb and a different pipe...now we're talking more money.

And, if you put the dratv kit on there and a conversion, its no longer all honda...it is actually the same stuff you don't want...the chinese stuff.

If you want to be cheap, I suggest the following. Re-bore or re-ring it stock or +.25, .5 75 whatever, throw on an atc125m intake manifold and a mikuni VM20 carb. Add a performance cam and exhaust. It will go better than an 85 or 88 with your stock components. And unless you are running lights, just stick with the points ignition. No harm no foul.

About the cheap method, will it work on a CT70H/SL70. That's ATC125 intake, VM20, cam and exhaust, how much more top speed?
