| Help with timing CT70 motor with 88 kit
Just installed a 71 CT70 motor in my 73 Z50 with an 88kit. Where should timing be set on this? Advanced or not? Having a weird fluctuation in timing when throttled. Timing light show slightly advanced but when throttled timing moves to the F and line on the case. Anyone have any ideas?

Maybe you have the flywheel with the timing advance mechanism. And the only way I ever set points is with this amazing tool. |

I use a timing light. What I am saying is where do you set the timing with this motor and 88 kit? Should it be F lined up with the notch or advanced a little or? Just didn't know if it is different now since it's not stock anymore. |

Stock is the F mark. I have no timing advance on my Z50R, so I set it advanced past the F about 3-4 degrees.

you think this motor has a timing advance? My other CT70 stock doesn't do this. Why does it retard a little when throttled? It starts about 3 degrees advanced at idle and when throttled moves to the F mark. |

Did you ride the bike with the timing set where it is yet? If not, take it for a test ride, and see how it runs. If it doesn't seem to be running right for you, readjust the points a little, and test ride it again. If it is better, keep tweaking it in that direction; if worse, go the other way on the points adjustment.
